well co-worker
I have been (was) asking my boss to hire a co-worker for a long time. I thought it would help with production , reduce his need to outsource to work-at-home part time people, boost office moral, and improve projects though collaboration (two heads are better than one) We have had a lot of issues with the part time people not being available on demand, mistakes being made though communication errors due to text, email phone, and one even quitting part way though a project. I just got a call from a guy who works for a 3-d rendering company. Sounds like my boss will try outsourcing my position instea d of hiring someone. dumb fucking move dude.

my new office has 12 people so i’m completely fine with the bad choices he makes. My new boss called me up to meet for a drink after work yesterday. I got to chat with him for a while over a couple beers which is something in the 4 yrs i worked here never happened.

If you need someone to be available on demand, you need someone full time.

that is something my boss just couldn’t grasp. he would get so mad when they were out with their kid at play-gym or a store.
to make it worse, one of them worked in Revit, which we dont have in the office so I couldn;t even go in and make a minor change.

Your wording reminded me of this:

Sorry, does this company build sidecars?
First one look s a little short on leg room, but I’m intrigued. I want to add a sidecar to one of these:

Same. Apparently one can make it a rum sidecar - probably a little more reasonably priced.

no we’re architects, current place does mostly condos/townhouses/apartments. the new place does school. I thought the sidecar was a good metaphor, the motorcycle is usually alone, but with a sidecar its not alone any more. I’m usually alone here as my boss is either out or hiding in his o ffice.

That is what I figured, but I had to ask anyway just on the off chance. The one above isn’t mine, but close, and my kid is rapidly outgrowing the trailer.
Glad you’ve moved on to the new place. Sounds lik e you got out of the old one at the perfect time.

we’ve actually had a couple clients comment on the lack of bodies in here and if we would be able to produce the work as needed. It blows my mind he didn’ t hire someone after that. is that an electric mountain bike? is it heavy?

Awesome build with an even better story behind it.
My brother in law is a phenomenal welder/fabricator. L ike in h is 20's, owns his own home and a 335i both of which a re paid off, and makes over 1 00k/yr phenomenal.
I’m going to need to ge t him to spark something up for me one of these days.

Yeah, you got out at the right time.
Also yes, electric enduro mtb. Mine is similar to the one pictured above, though mine has a larger hub motor and is thus only a single speed. Weighs around 100lbs all-in with the bigly hub.
Controller in mine puts out 14kw peak (around 19 hp) a nd has 20s of Lipo behind it currently holding 1.4kwh of juice, though that is slated to double over the winter for increased range. I ’ve never attempted a top speed run but I can confirm it’ll exceed 70kph in less than a block with enough torque to send the front wheel to the heavens. It's a lot of fun.

Similar boat. “Let’s hire someone on a 3 month contract” and then wonder why they drag their feet
